JOHANNESBURG – There’s still uncertainty around the future of many non-profit organisations in Gauteng and the children, elderly and other vulnerable people they care for.
The Gauteng Department of Social Department’s funding decisions for the new financial year were delayed, leaving many organisations unable to plan.
This has led to at least 18 NPOs announcing they have to close, or will have to do so if their applications are not successful.
The funding was meant to kick in on 1 April.
Lisa Vetten of the Gauteng Care Crisis Committee, which is a voluntary association of 67 non-profit organisations, spoke with eNCA.
